Jack The Ripper stalks Vilnius as filming begins in Lithuania

German production company Pantaleon Pictures GmbH (producers Dan Maag, Matthias Schweighöfer, Marco Beckmann) and local coproducer Lithuanian Film Studio are shooting the German TV film Jack The Ripper about the unsolved mystery of the 19th century serial killer, filmneweurope.com reports.

Directed by Sebastian Niemann and written by Holger Karsten Schmidt, the coproduction with Fireworks Entertainment (producer Marian Redmann) for German private broadcaster SAT.1 has an international cast including Sonja Gerhardt as Anna Kosminski (Deutschland 83), Sabina Tambrea (Ludwig II), Falk Hentschel (Arrow, The Flash), Nicholas Farrell (Chariots of Fire) and Peter Gilbert Cotton (Conspiracy), as well as local Lithuanian acting talents.

Jack The Ripper is the best-known name of an unidentified serial killer generally believed to have been active in the largely impoverished areas in and around the Whitechapel district of London in 1888.

Principal photography in Vilnius, Lithuania, began on 23 May 2016. Shooting will be completed on 23 June. The television broadcast is planned for 2016.

Jack The Ripper, which has Lithuanian Film Studio serving as a local service producer, also applied to benefit from the Lithuanian tax incentive scheme.
