Latvia‘s minister of transport has urged Lithuania to pick up pace on implementing the European-gauge Baltic railway project Rail Baltica.
Uldis Augulis met with Lithuania’s ambassador in Riga last week, telling him that the project is of great importance to all the three Baltic countries.
He said that Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia should agree on how to divide tasks and speed up the implementation of the project in each of the country.
On its part, Latvia is keeping up with the schedule, Augulis also said.
During the meeting, Latvia’s transport minister also discusses possibilities to open a railway connection between Riga and Vilnius.
