Latvia stops pork imports from Lithuania

As Food and Veterinary Service spokeswoman Anna Joffe informed the business information portal Nozare.lv, pork imports from Lithuania have been halted only temporarily.

People in Latvia who have purchased Lithuanian pork products over the past two weeks and still have these products in their homes are asked to consider whether to eat them, as well as not to dispose of them in regular garbage bins, to prevent the spread of the virus.

African swine fever is not harmful to humans. This is the first time that African swine fever has been registered in the territory of Lithuania.
