On Monday, EU ministers discussed the situation in Ukraine and the peace plan with Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs Pavlo Klimkin.

“The EU strongly supports the peace plan proposed by Poroshenko, the implementation of which would provide the opportunity to end violence taking place for several months now and deaths in eastern Ukraine but these steps must, first of all, be supported by Russia,” the Lithuanian foreign minister was quoted as saying in a statement.

According to Linkevičius, there’s clear evidence that Russia is providing weapons, military equipment to separatists in eastern Ukraine and continues the information war.

“Ukraine is taking necessary steps and wants a peaceful dialogue with Russia but tanks continue coming in from this country. Therefore, voicing concern is no longer enough. We must speak about further tightening sanctions against Russia,” Linkevičius said.
