“We specify the amount. It’s 46 million euros. It’s a short-term measure. For three to four months,” Virginija Baltraitienė told the LRT Radio on Friday.

Vilnius expected to obtain at least a part of that amount, she said.

“The main measure, which we want to discuss and what we are asking for, concerns the payment of compensations, allocation of money for the payment of compensations to farmers, who saw the purchase prices for their products plummet. This fall in Lithuania has been the biggest among the European countries. We expect them to understand our circumstances and we hope to obtain some financing,” Baltraitienė said.

The Agriculture and Fisheries Council is scheduled to hold an extraordinary meeting to discuss the consequences of Russia’s sanctions and the measures to support the countries affected by the restrictions.
