Lithuania mulls contributing to EFSI, finance minister says

“We are seriously considering our contribution. Perhaps our priority would be to contribute to particular projects that will to some extent cover Lithuania, but we are ready to engage in regional projects first of all. Not national, not confined only to national borders,” Finance Minister Rimantas Šadžius told reporters before the ECOFIN meeting in Brussels on Tuesday.

The ECOFIN Council is due to discuss the investment plan unveiled by Jean-Claude Juncker, European Commission President, in late November.

Lithuania supports the plan but points out that its success would depend on private investment. Moreover, it believes that this investment plan should not interfere with key EU budget priorities.
