“We must react and we will react. The political director will shortly send a letter to the Taiwan mission in Riga. We don’t have diplomatic relations but, with no doubt, we will protest against such an action and will demand explanations,” Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevičius told BNS on Monday.
He said he was not aware of the reasons why Lithuania’s Soviet anthem was played and only had information that the organizers offered their apology to the Lithuanian athletes.
“We don’t know the reasons. We’ve been informed that the organizers apologized to our athletes for the incident. But we don’t know the reasons why this happened,” the minister said.
