
Under the agreement among European Union (EU) countries, Lithuania has committed itself to receiving 70 refugees from third countries and 255 from Italy and Greece.
Refugee camps in Turkey accommodate refugees from Syria and Iraq.
Lithuania will have to resettle the refugees over a period of two years until the beginning of 2018.
In an effort to ease the burden of Eastern European nations, EU member-states intend to divide among themselves 40,000 refugees who are currently in Italy and Greece, as well as further 20,000 in third countries.
