Six military policemen to the mission Enduring support in Afghanistan will be sent in early June. They will carry out security tasks in the mission base in Kabul.

The water purification unit team will consist of eight soldiers. Lithuania will be able to send up to 130 troops on international operations in the period 2016 – 2017.

Unrest in Mali has continued since 2012 when a large northern region in the country was seized by jihadist groups linked to al-Qaeda. During the French-led intervention in 2013, the Islamists were almost completely pushed out, but a large area in the north of Mali is still under threat. Peacekeeping mission Minusma in Mali began in July 2013.
