Lithuanian army unit commander attends conference of Danish Division commanders

The commanders’ conference will take stock of the new combat training cycle of incorporated units for 2015-2016 and related matters of relevance, objectives and priorities of the units will also be presented. The Baltic brigades’ commanders and the command of the Danish Division will also discuss international command post exercise Saber Knight 2015 to be held in Lithuania in June and other planned joint military training events of the Danish Division and the Baltic states.

In cooperation with the Danish Division military personnel of the Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian brigades are attending joint training events and exercises arranged in Denmark and the Baltic states on a rotating basis. Such events train the attending staff operational planning in a multilateral brigade.

The staff of the Iron Wolf Brigade has been training along with staffs of the other brigades affiliated to the Danish Division for 8 years. This international cooperation project is among the top combat training priorities in the MIB Iron Wolf aimed ensuring a purposeful preparation of the troops to cooperation with allied forces.

The Mechanised Infantry Brigade Iron Wolf was affiliated to the Danish Division in 2006 by a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) approved by the Lithuania’s and Denmark’s Chiefs of Defence. The MoU covers joint work of both countries’ officers in international staffs, combines training and exercises. Moreover, the affiliation has allowed Lithuanian military to train in international division-level exercises in composition of the Danish Division.
