Lithuanian buyers still prefer to pay with cash

In Lithuania, people aged 25-30 are more open to novelties, 55 percent of them pay more by card at points of sale compared to the average (31 percent).

According to the data of SEB Bank, residents of bigger Lithuanian cities tend to pay by card more often. Forty-nine percent of residents of Vilnius and 37 percent of Kaunas’ residents spend more by paying by card than the average Lithuanian.

Forty-eight percent of people who are above-average earners (LTL 1,700/EUR 490) use cards for payments at points of sale more often than the average Lithuanian resident. Meanwhile, only 32 percent of below-average earners use cards for payments at points of sale more often than the average Lithuanian resident.
