Lithuanian culture minister to attend 2nd Edinburgh International Culture Summit

The delegation will join culture ministers and leading arts and culture experts from around the world to discuss the importance of cultural exchange in a world that is increasingly complex and multi-lateral. The Summit takes place during the largest annual celebration of arts in the world – Edinburgh’s summer festivals.

The Lithuanian delegation will take part in a series of discussions and debates around the theme ‘Culture – A Currency of Trust’. This theme reflects the Summit’s belief in the capacity of the arts and culture to build bridges of understanding between nations, states and cities.

“We still need to raise awareness at the political level of what culture and creativity can offer and how it can be an incredible source of energy for social, economic and much broader human development, liberating minds of individuals and enabling them to think and act creatively,” said Minister Birutis before the summit. “Strong and diverse cultural environment should be the key precondition and primary goal of every cultural policy, bringing culture to the top of political agenda.”
