Linkevičius hailed the good relationship between Lithuania and Ireland, contacts established in capital cities and Brussels, and thanked the ambassador for her active efforts to strengthen bilateral political, economic and cultural relations. The Lithuanian foreign minister also thanked Ireland for its support for Lithuania’s bid to become a non-permanent member of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
The officials especially positively evaluated cooperation between Lithuania and Ireland within the Presidency Trio during Lithuania’s Presidency of the EU Council.
At the end of July, Ireland’s outgoing Ambassador Philomena Murnaghan will be succeeded by David Noonan.
