Lithuanian Foreign Ministry summons Russian Ambassador over detained Lithuanian fishing vessel

Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Andrius Krivas requested the Russian Federation to explain why the fishing vessel “Sea Wolf” registered in Lithuania and belonging to the company JSC “Arctic Fishing” was detained in international waters and is dragged to the Port of Murmansk. After finding out all possible facts about this incident with the assistance of respective departments, in the short run

Lithuanian Foreign Ministry will send an official note to the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Lithuania. It is known to Lithuania that the crew consists of 28 persons, 3 of whom are citizens of the Republic of Lithuania.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs calls on the Russian Federation to consistently comply with provisions of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, to which Russia has acceded, and to immediately release the vessel and its crew.

Lithuania has submitted all available information and proof to the European Fisheries Control Agency.
