“It is not the parents but doctors only who can decide whether a child should be vaccinated or not,” the minister told journalists after the government’s meeting on Monday.
The Ministry of Healthcare has prepared an amendment to the Law on Prevention and Control of Communicable Diseases, stipulating three mandatory vaccines: against polio, measles and rubella.
If the vaccination is made mandatory, parents would face fines of up to 115 euros for refusing to vaccinate their children.
