“The officer received medical assistance at a hospital, a fracture of a finger was diagnosed and a splint was applied. The injury is expected to heal in a month,” the Lithuanian police announced via a Facebook post.
According to the Police Department‘s spokesman Ramūnas Matonis, the officer was injured while trying to handle a crowd. The Lithuanian officer will be treated in Slovenia.
Slovenia asked for international help in dealing with the flow of migrants. In late October, Lithuania sent 20 police officers. They will return home on December 31, including the injured officer.
