“The e-ticket system, which will allow our passengers to buy a ticket from home, will be launched in late February, unless our project contractors fail us,” the company’s CEO, Stasys Dailydka, said at a news conference on Tuesday.

He added that the company was also looking for ways to provide wireless internet access on its trains.

“We are also looking for possibilities to roll out Wi-Fi on trains,” Dailydka said.

The e-ticket system should be put in operation on 26 February.

Vidmantas Gudas, spokesman for the company, told BNS that e-tickets would be sold at a discount of 50 percent in the first week after the system’s launch and 5 percent off afterwards.

The e-ticket system installation project, worth 1.1 million euros, was implemented by Fima.
