The games were opened and the winners were congratulated by ambassador of Lithuania to the Kingdom of Belgium and Grand Duchy of Luxembourg Gediminas Varvuolis, ambassador of Lithuania to NATO Vytautas Leškevičius, ambassador of Lithuania to the Kingdom of the Netherlands Darius Semaška, director of the Department of Lithuanians living abroad of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Gintė Damušytė and deputy director general of the Department of Physical Education and Sports Vytautas Vainys. Member of the European Parliament Petras Auštrevičius also participated in the event.
This year traditional competitions such as basketball, football, tennis, running, swimming, chess and many others were supplemented by sailing regatta which took place on 7 June in the Netherlands, Veersemeer lagoon. Five Lithuanian crews competed in Belz 620 type of yachts. The competition was followed by a discussion on Lithuanian unity, cohesion and sense of teamwork with regatta’s guest and honorary judge, the Millennium Odyssey initiator, Lithuanian yacht Ambersail captain Paulius Kovas.
On 14 June, the Day of Mourning and Hope, participants of the Sports games gave a moment of silence to honor the victims of the Soviet occupation and genocide.
The games were organized by the Lithuanian communities of Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg in partnership with the Permanent Delegation of the Republic of Lithuania to NATO, the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania to the Kingdom of Belgium and Permanent Representation of Lithuania to the European Union.
