Lithuania’s expenditure on social protection second lowest in EU – Eurostat

Lithuania spent only 11.5% of GDP on social protection in 2014, and ahead only of Romania at 11.4% and well behind the EU average of 19.5%.

Total government expenditure in Lithuania was the lowest in the EU accounting for 34.8% of GDP in 2014, compared to an EU average of 48.2%.

Lithuania’s government expenditure was also below Baltic neighbours Latvia at 37.3% and Estonia at 38%.
