The 38m-high and 240m-long bridge stretches over the river Nemunas and is adjacent to the town’s beach and recreational zones.

The new bridge will be available for bungee jumping.

The bridge, named the White Rose after the symbol of Alytus, took about two years to construct and was supported by the European Union.

It has been built on the site of a former railway bridge, completed in 1899, which was destroyed by the retreating Russian army in 1915.
