“We hope that the Polish side makes a decision that will not set the states against each other, especially about this fact,” he told Žinių Radijas news radio on Wednesday.

Last week, Poland‘s acting charge d’affaires was summoned to the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry over the Polish Interior Ministry’s plans to picture the Gate of Dawn on Polish passports.

Lithuania’s Foreign Minister Linas Linkevičius then said that the new Polish passports should not feature images of the Gate of Dawn, a Catholic church in Vilnius Old Town popular among tourists.

A picture of the Gate of Dawn is among the 13 graphic images proposed for an online voting on the appearance of the Polish passports, they will be shortlisted to six.
