Lithuania’s Special Operations Forces going back to Afghanistan

“Troops of the Lithuanian Armed Forces’ Special Operations Forces are planned to leave for their site of deployment in Kandahar in April,” the Defense Ministry told BNS on Thursday.

Currently, 21 Lithuanian troops, mainly staff officers, serve in Afghanistan.

Lithuania’s special operators operated in Afghanistan from 2002 to 2015.

The country earlier considered sending special operators to Iraq.
