The idea of acquainting the audience of the national television on the methods used in the Russian propaganda coverages was proposed at a meeting of representatives of the LRT Council and the Culture Council, the Culture Ministry. The LRT Council president Žygintas Pečiulis then said that the broadcast could be aired this fall.
“We take the relevant issues into consideration, however, we will not have a special anti-propaganda broadcast, as anti-propaganda is very close to propaganda. However, we want our content to deconstruct this,” LRT chief Audrius Siaurusevičius told BNS.
In his words, the national broadcaster currently has enough Russian-language broadcasting: a news coverage prepared by Ukrainian journalists is aired on a daily basis on LRT Culture channel, which also broadcasts Russian-language information broadcasts by Germany’s national broadcaster Deutche Welle and an information broadcast prepared by Radio Free Europe and the Voice of America.
