On 10 May, the exhibition “Place, Time, Reason?” by Ludo Segers, a regular contributor to The Lithuania Tribune, opened in the Dailininkų sąjungos galerija on Vokiečių g. 2 in Vilnius. The exhibition will show a selection of photos made in Lithuania and other places around the world many that were recently exhibited in a successful large scale exhibition in Antwerp Belgium.
Best described as a cross between narrative documentary and fine art, most of the photos show the photographers’ high level of awareness and observations that often are featured in his photo journalistic work. The exhibition is curated by Ian Damerell, professor of visual art, and will show intimate landscapes, portraits and situations that are bring together visual elements and moods across time and space.
Ludo describes his photos as “Sometimes displaying a confrontation between reality and fantasy, confronting the viewer with a pleasant scene where the explicable meets the undefined.” Usually there is a graphical element present, linking back to his earlier studies in that field, whilst revealing the essential elements of the moment through an impeccable photographic technique.
The exhibition in Vilnius will benefit the vocational school “Sodžiaus meistrai” in Trakai, teaching young people and integrating them into the labor market. The school has succesful apprenticeship training method where students learning in a small groups and alternate between classroom time and practical study in the workplace.
The exhibition in Dailininkų sąjungos galerija will run from 10 until 24 May 2019
