“We are committed to developing such a pay model by March jointly (with trade unions),” Education and Science Minister Jurgita Petrauskienė told reporters after meeting with the heads of trade unions.

This means that teachers‘ pay will not fluctuate based on their workload, but will be fixed.

The minister is scheduled to meet with trade union representatives on Jan. 19 to discuss their proposals in more detail.

The introduction of a new pay system for teachers is envisaged in the program of the new coalition government of the Lithuanian Peasant and Green Union and the Social Democratic Party.
