NATO must speed up work to be ready to respond to threats – Lithuanian formin

The minister said this during Thursday’s meeting with General Curtis M. Scaparrotti, NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR), the Foreign Ministry said in a press release.

“It is necessary to accelerate the work in the fields of reinforced training and deployment of forces, increasing the Alliance’s ability to appropriately and timely respond to all kinds of threats,” it quoted Linkevičius as saying.

“It is also extremely important to strengthen our air defense in the Baltic region,” he added.

Linkevičius met with Scaparrotti ahead of the spring meeting of the Alliance’s foreign ministers in Brussels on Thursday and Friday.
