Under the new law, a civil servant’s salary will be calculated by multiplying the basic salary amount by an established coefficient or by a range of coefficients.
If a range of coefficients is used, a specific coefficient will be chosen by “the appointing authority”.
Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis has said that this new provision, proposed by the government, will allow raising salaries for good workers and thus attract qualified professionals to the civil service.
However, conservative MP Rimantas Dagys told the parliament on Friday that ” serving the state is being replaced with serving one’s boss”.
