On Monday, the first containers with goods from Kaunas Intermodal Terminal (KIT) reached Milan. Lithuania exported wood pellets which reached Milan in seven days. The route will be used to import Italian food for the Baltic countries.
“By partnering with Hupac Intermodal SA, from now on, on a regular basis, once a week, we will transport goods between Kaunas and Milan. We expect that Lithuania will mainly export to Italy Lithuanian industrial products, while Lithuania will import food products, decoration materials, household appliances and plumbing,” said Rima Terminaitė, the head of the freight forwarding department at Lietuvos geležinkeliai.
