Online shopping drives 55% increase in Lithuanians using self-service parcel kiosks

“Almost one third of Lithuanian residents were shopping online last year,” said Juozas Buitkus, a director of Baltic Post which is a subsidiary of Lithuania Post (LP). He said this led to increases in the use of self-service terminals as consumers wanted a delivery process that was as convenient as online shopping.

“Over the last year, two-thirds of all the items sent via terminals LP Express belonged to business clients, for the most part – online stores. The number of items sent via terminals LP Express by business clients increased by 46%. However in 2015 the activity of private clients expanded the most. Last year, residents sent almost 80% more items via terminals than in 2014,” said Baltic Post.

There are currently 80 Lithuania Post Express self-service parcel terminals in 41 cities and towns in Lithuania. Nine new terminals were launched in Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda, Marijampolė, Mažeikiai and Alytus last year, and the terminals can be used to send packages to 22 European countries.
