PM doesn’t back move for 2008-2016 parliamentary probe

“The main task of the Seimas is the legislative process, and all these investigations are definitely not the tasks of first necessity or first priority,” Skvernelis told reporters on Tuesday.

“Any investigation needs specific questions to be formulated. I really don’t see any need for doing so at this moment,” he added.

According to Skvernelis, politicians’ excessive focus on parliamentary investigations led to the Seimas being forced to hold unusually many sittings this week.

The LVŽS group last Friday decided to conduct a new parliamentary investigation into the situation between 2008 and 2016. A draft Seimas resolution on the proposed new probe has not yet been published.
