President accepts credentials from US new ambassador

The president and the newly-appointed ambassador discussed bilateral relations between Lithuania and the United States, collaborative work in international organizations as well as economic, energy and security issues, the President’s Office said.

According to the press release, the meeting also focused on military cooperation, the security situation and military threats in our neighborhood.

In Grybauskaite’s words, the United States is a key partner of Lithuania for ensuring security guarantees and support to the Baltic states. The president underlined that the United States played a crucial role in strengthening defense capabilities in the face of threats in the neighborhood.

She pointed out that effective bilateral cooperation was very important when addressing information and cyber security challenges.

Hall, who arrived in Vilnius in late September, said she would seek to enhance bilateral partnership.
