President to open festival of Lithuanian culture in Rome

Over 100 well-known Lithuanian artists of older and younger generations will be introduced to the public. They will include Jurgis Mačiūnas, Jonas Mekas, Eimuntas Nekrošius, Deimantas Narkevičius, Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla, Justė Janulytė, Kamilė Gudmonaitė, urban dance theater “Low Air” and the cast of modern opera “Geros dienos!” (Have a good day) etc.

The festival will be opened by the orchestra of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, directed by Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla who was awarded a state decoration by the Lithuanian president on the occasion of February 16.

Grybauskaitė is also scheduled to meet with her Italian counterpart Sergio Mattarella. The meeting will be held at a special time as the Italian leader will pay a state visit to Lithuania in July.

The two leaders are set to discuss security issues, cooperation within the European Union and NATO as well as bilateral cultural, scientific and business ties.
