“It is the minister who is ultimately responsible for migration policies and (it is wrong) to look for someone to blame and push one another and to think that issues can be solved by sacking one (official) and reprimanding another,” she told reporters.
Misiūnas has repeatedly criticized Evelina Gudzinskaitė, the director of the Lithuanian Migration Department, for her work, but she refuses to step down.
The Migration Department has come under criticism for its failure to cope with growing numbers of immigrants, especially from Ukraine.
