The Russian citizen tried to enter Lithuania via the Panemune border checkpoint on the Lithuanian-Russian border. Lithuanian border guards inspected his Volvo XC90 and checked the man’s documents and they were in order but then the border guards spotted a sticker featuring a red Soviet five-pointed star with a hammer and sickle, the Lithuanian State Border Guard Service said.
Now in Lithuania, public demonstration and distribution of Soviet and Nazi symbols is forbidden and is punishable by fine of EUR 144-289.
The border guards told the Russian citizen that he would not be allowed to enter the Baltic country because of the sticker. The Russian citizen could continue his journey by foot or remove the sticker but he turned around and returned to Kaliningrad.
