The group initiated relevant amendments to the Education Law, which have already been approved for discussion and should now go to the parliamentary Education and Science Committee.

The committee’s chairman, Eugenijus Jovaiša of the ruling Farmers and Greens Union, says this was the start for a discussion on unification of achievements of school graduates rather than approval of different exams.

The current language of the law stipulates that checks of educational performance should be unified for students studying in all languages, without violating the principle of equal opportunities.

The Polish politicians of Lithuania suggest that the examination should take place in light of the national and international legal acts regulating education of national minorities.
