In a statement issued to mark the International Day for Protection of Children, the police highlighted the need to ensure children’s safety on the roads.

“We focus today on the use of safety belts, special child seats and other mandatory safety measures, as well as on controlling and supervising the behavior of pedestrians, bicycle drivers and young drivers on the roads,” they said.

Two children have been killed on the country’s roads since the start of this year. Both of them were six years old and were passengers in vehicles involved in two separate traffic accidents.
