The annual security and foreign policy forum, The Rīga Conference 2022, will take place on October 21 – 22. Additional special events and discussions will be held on 20th October. This year, the event will gather in-person and online participants at the National Library of Latvia, according to a press release.
Its participants will have the opportunity to hear from the Assistant Secretary General of NATO for Public Diplomacy Baiba Braže; Executive Vice-President of the European Commission for An Economy that Works for People Valdis Dombrovskis; and the Head of Policy Planning for the NATO Secretary General, Prof. Benedetta Berti. The President of the Republic of Latvia, H.E. Egils Levits, and the Former Minister for Foreign Affairs for Sweden, Carl Bildt, will open the Conference. The event will be broadcast live on www.rigaconference.lv, by more than thirty partners and on social media platforms.
Since 2006, the conference has become one of the most important platforms for discussing security and foreign policy in the Baltic Sea region. Multiple concurrent crises have put Europe and major European powers at a crossroads. Discussions on the need to modify the Eastern Partnership are heating up. Global logistics providers, regional powers and governments are worried about the looming food, energy, and global commerce challenges. Thus among the most anticipated participants are Aleksey Arestovich, Adviser to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Igor Zhovka, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine and Klympush-Tsintsadze Ivanna, Chairperson of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada on Ukraine’s Integration into the European Union.
These and many more essential elements needed for global peace and the security effort required to maintain it will be highlighted and gain new relevance at The Rīga Conference. For the full programme of The Rīga Conference 2022, please visit here.
A broader audience will be able to follow the live stream of the main programme on The Rīga Conference website, as well as on Facebook, Youtube, and other internet platforms in Latvia and through international media.
