Viktoras Butkus, the initiator of the museum, announced the opening date to journalists on Thursday.
Butkus said at a news conference that Daniel Libeskind, a world-renowned architect, stuck to his style in designing the museum.
“What Daniel has created is some kind of miracle, something I couldn’t imagine when I saw the first drawings,” he said.
The new museum will display a Lithuanian modern art collection dating from the 1960 up to the present day.
The construction of the museum is being financed by private funds from Danguolė and Viktoras Butkus.
Butkus said earlier that the total value of the project was estimated at 15 million euros.
