Vilnius starts renovation of Gate of Dawn Chapel

Exterior fragments, the chapel’s windows, window blinds will be renovated and the ventilation system will be improved over the course of two years. Moreover, conditions will be created for disabled people to visit the chapel.

Part of the church’s basement will be adapted to the needs of pilgrims, stained-glass windows, the central door will be repaired, wall paintings and arcs will be restored and other work will be made.

The organ situated in the gallery linking the church and the chapel and the room itself will be renovated. A joint video and sound system will be installed inside the church, gallery and chapel.

The planned works will not interfere with the upcoming visit of Pope Francis to Lithuania in late September and he will be able to visit the chapel, Mykolas Juozapavičius, head of the economic service at the Archdiocese of Vilnius, said.

EU funds will be used for the planned renovation.
