It is projected that the farm in Pagėgiai municipality, which is owned by Amberwind, could increase the amount of annual electricity generation from wind by up to 25% in Lithuania. In a year it will produce enough electricity to satisfy the electricity consumption of 35,000 households.
Around €110 million was invested in developing the wind farm. The park consists of 30 turbines with a total capacity of 73.5 MW, and it will produce 200 GWh of electricity annually.
Wind power plants generated a quarter or 24.6% of the total amount of electricity produced in Lithuania last year. Last year wind turbines produced 806.3 GWh of electricity which represented an increase of 26.7% on 2014.
“During the construction of this park, more than 25km of roads were repaired and paved in Pagėgiai municipality, land reclamation and many other infrastructure development works have been completed as well. For two years, the project employed more than 120 Lithuanian and foreign workers. Since the park became operational, local residents have been employed to carry out maintenance work,” the park construction manager Tadeušas Konkovskis said.
