Electricity price falls in Lithuania due to supply growth

Director General Algirdas Juozaponis says price decrease was determined by greater electricity supply. Hydro generation in Latvia doubled in 12-20 October. Moreover, Riga Thermal Power Plant was launched. Combined cycle unit was operational in the Lithuania Power Plant. In October, compared with September, electricity generation from wind grew twofold, accounting for 5.7 percent of the total consumed electricity.

According to the director, the average price could not fall lower because of throughput limitations and maintenance in Estonia’s electricity network.
