In four years, sworn translators translated all the laws to the English language, at the guidance of the Ministry of Justice, to introduce the Estonian legal system in the world and ease professional and business interaction, Ministry of Justice spokeswoman Maria-Elisa Tuulik said.

However, Justice Ministry Riigi Teataja unit manager Juri Heinla as said that the translations have no legal force and cannot be used in official dealings in the state.

In the future, all amendments and new laws will be translated into English and the full texts of the laws are kept up to date.

Besides translations of laws, the Riigi Teataja web page also contains decrees translated by ministries. In all, translations of nearly 500 legal acts are available.
