With new excise duty rates, cigarette prices are expected to grow, on average, €0.09 per packet.
Excise duty on alcoholic drinks has been raised between 2.5% and 8%, depending on alcohol content. A bottle of beer is expected to grow €0.01 dearer, wine €0.04, and vodka €0.08.
Tobacco taxes are estimated to bring additional €7 million in tax revenue and alcohol levies, additional €8 million.
Lithuania has been gradually raising excise duties on alcohol and tobacco since 2012 to bring them closer European Union levels. EU countries are required to equalize the levies by 2018.
