Georgia and Ukraine get EC’s go-ahead for visa-free travel

The EC announced the positive report on Friday, saying it is now up to the European Parliament and EU member states to decide whether to include Georgia and Ukraine into the EU’s visa waiver programme.

According to Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, the European Parliament is expected to support visa-free regime with the two countries, but some EU member states might have reservations about Ukraine. Countries like Germany are believed to be fearful of increasing migratory flows due to visa liberalizaion.
