“Our first goal was to travel around Lithuania and take pictures of major cities, surrounding towns and key roads. This time, we will focus on updating information on intercity roads. Two Google vehicles will ride Lithuanian roads. (…) It’s too soon to say when updated information will appear on the Google Maps system but it might take up to several moths or even more,” Google told BNS Lithuania.

Street View cars arrived started driving in Lithuania in June, 2012, and images of Lithuanian roads and street are available on the Google Street View system since January, 2013.

Lithuania’s State Data Protection Inspectorate then proposed to Google to set up its representation in Lithuania as, otherwise, there would have been legal obstacles to the project. But following discussions, the Ministry of Justice decided that Google’s EU company would be the legal basis for Google to operate in Lithuania.
