Next year, the government intends to continue its current policy of reducing administrative costs by preparing a budget for 2017 that will be 5% lower than this year’s.

Similar several-percent reductions in administrative costs have bee implemented over the past several years as well.

“The money freed up would be used on various national strategic projects and for other priority budgetary applications,” said Minister of Finance Rimantas Šadžius. On Monday, the government considered the Ministry of Finance‘s proposals for consolidating municipal income and expenditures for 2017-2019.

The meeting on Monday also approved a program on the dividends the state should expect to receive from state-run companies between 2016 and 2018. Initial calculations indicate that no less than €50 million in income will be transferred from those companies to the state budget.
