Linkevičius on NATO-Russia meeting: ‘I would like to be wrong in my scepticism’

Linkevičius said that Moscow would probably use the meeting of the NATO-Russia Council for propaganda purposes.

“I have stated my scepticism about the meaning of the meeting, but if our Allies want it, we do not mind,” the minister told BNS.

“I would like to be wrong, but my fear is that the meeting will not be used for bringing positions closer together or at least making a constructive analysis of the situation, but rather for propaganda purposes,” Linkevičius said.

“It would be great if it was constructive or focused on actual threats, as Russia plays a significant role everywhere and it is definitely not positive in all of them,” Linkevičius added.

The NATO-Russia Council is scheduled to meet in Brussels on Wednesday. It will be the first meeting in this format since June of 2014.
