Lithuania slides on Global Innovation Index

According to the index report, Lithuania is among top ten most innovative countries in three categories, ranking 5th in terms of hired women with bachelor’s degree or above, 8th in terms of the ratio of teachers with secondary education and students and 10th in terms of management of environmental certification.

The index also revealed that Lithuania’s weakest spot, when it comes to innovations, was spending on computer software, putting the country in the 96th position. Lithuania ranked 88th in categories of exports and imports of information technologies.

The top three countries on the index include Switzerland, followed by Sweden, the Netherlands, the United States and the United Kingdom. Estonia and Latvia ranked 25th and 33rd, respectively.

Last year, Lithuania had climbed from the 38th to the 36th position on the index, ranking among top ten most innovative countries in seven categories.
