Jurgita Kazlauskienė, head of the Lithuanian State Tourism Department (VTD), and Lithuanian Ambassador to Israel Edminas Bagdonas met at the David Intercontinental hotel in Tel Aviv for a unique PR event organized for Israeli travel agents in order to encourage Israeli tourists to visit Lithuania, the VTD said.
In this exclusive event, the travel agents were shown various touristic attractions in Lithuania, its historical sites, landscapes, cuisine, SPAs, etc. The event also included a lucky draw in which the lucky winners received a package of luxury vacation in Lithuania and many other prizes.
Lithuania’s goal of attracting more Israeli tourists is an outcome of the growing relationship between the two countries that became even closer with Lithuania joining the euro zone and the opening of the Israeli Embassy in Vilnius this year.
“Lithuania and Israel have historical and long-lasting relations. Our arrival to Israel proves our wish to maintain and empower our relation in the future. Due to the recent changes, we are expecting a high number of Israeli tourists in Lithuania so that they can experience the touristic and cultural variety that our country has to offer. I am certain that the Israeli people will discover an attractive country which was also declared lately by both Lonely Planet and the Forbes magazine as a top international recommended touristic destination for 2015,” said Kazlauskienė.
Lithuania’s Šarūnas Jasikevičius, former basketball player of Maccabi Tel Aviv, also welcomed the development of relations between Lithuania and Israel. “Judging from my own experience, I am sure that the Israelis will find Lithuania a magical and friendly touristic destination where they can enjoy a variety of their favourite attractions: historical sites, breath-taking views, shopping, great night life and much more. I am looking forward to seeing the Israelis in my beautiful country,” he said, the VTD reports.
