Lithuanian formin pledges continuous support for eastern Ukrainian regions

“Lithuania will continue supporting eastern Ukrainian regions, implementing humanitarian, education, social and other projects,” Linkevičius said, speaking with local residents coming under regular fire from Russia-supported separatists.

The Lithuanian minister paid a visit to Ukraine’s Luhansk region last Friday and Saturday and met with Yuri Harbuz, head of Luhansk region’s military and civil administration, the local business community, Ukrainian troops and NGOs providing assistance to local people, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

A bilateral business forum was also held in Luhansk region’s administrative center Severodonetsk, during Linkevičius’ visit, and the minister also visited settlements near the contact line.

Ukraine’s forces are fighting Moscow-backed separatist in the east of the country since the spring of 2014. The conflict has already taken over 10,000 lives.
